Ragib Amin Nihal, Ph.D. Student at Nakadai Lab has won the Jury Award in Task 1 of BioDCASE 2026🎉
Task 1 is a challenge focused on highly accurate synchronization of multi-channel audio data with desynchronized timing, recorded by autonomous recording units in the wild or bio-loggers attached to animals.
In this task, Nihal introduced structured regression that accounts for clock drift over time.
The proposed method received high praise from the judges, particularly for the following points:
・End-to-End Execution: The method completes the process within a single model, eliminating the need to separate coarse alignment and fine alignment into different mechanisms.
・Improved Generalization: By appropriately handling clock drift through structured regression, the model achieved enhanced generalization performance.
